Planning your New Year’s Eve on the Gold Coast? Surfers Paradise sets the scene for a celebration you won’t forget.

The beach comes alive with fireworks, live music fills the streets, and families enjoy open-air entertainment well into the evening. Great dining options line the esplanade, and the buzz around Cavill Avenue lasts all night.

Everything sits within easy walking distance when you stay at St Tropez Holiday Apartments. You won’t need to worry about traffic or parking. Just step outside and join the atmosphere.

This guide highlights what’s on in Surfers Paradise for New Year’s Eve 2025, including fireworks, beach parties, dining spots and family-friendly fun.

Fireworks and Free Events on the Gold Coast

The heart of New Year’s Eve in Surfers Paradise is the spectacular fireworks display. You’ll find two shows on 31 December, one at 8 pm for families and another at midnight to ring in 2025 in style.

Both show lights up the sky right above the beach. For the best views, grab a spot on the sand near the Esplanade, just a five-minute walk from your apartment. If you’re travelling with children or prefer to skip the late-night crowd, the 8 pm show is perfect.

These fireworks are completely free, and there’s no need to book. Just arrive early with a picnic rug, snacks, and something to sit on. Local council rangers will be around to help keep things safe and enjoyable for everyone.

Looking for what’s on tonight in Surfers Paradise? Expect live music, street performers, and plenty of energy along Cavill Avenue and the beachfront. The entire area turns into a lively, open-air celebration you can easily enjoy without leaving the neighbourhood.

Cavill Mall & Beach Party Atmosphere

As the sun goes down, Cavill Mall and the Surfers Paradise beachfront come alive. Local bands take to open-air stages, DJs send music through the streets, and the whole area hums with energy.

Walk along the Esplanade to see acrobats, street performers and stilt walkers entertaining crowds. Music, lights and the sound of laughter carry through the evening. It’s one of the most popular ways to spend a night on the Gold Coast, and there’s no entry fee.

If you’re keen to join the action, the beachfront and mall are packed with movement and colour. For a calmer pace, head toward the northern end of the beach. You’ll still catch the atmosphere without the crowd.

Everything is close when you stay at St Tropez. You can leave the car behind and walk straight into the heart of the celebration.

Sky-High Celebrations at SkyPoint

To make your New Year’s Eve stand out, consider booking tickets to the SkyPoint NYE party. Held at the top of Q1, one of the tallest residential towers in the world, this celebration pairs city views with live DJs, flowing drinks and a lively crowd.

The vantage point gives you a full view of fireworks stretching along the coastline. It’s a rare chance to celebrate above the city lights. As one of the most popular ticketed events on the Gold Coast, it tends to book out early.

SkyPoint sits less than ten minutes on foot from St Tropez. You can enjoy the entire evening without worrying about transport or traffic delays.

This is one of the top places to experience New Year’s Eve in Gold Coast, Australia, whether you’re spending it with friends or as a couple.

NYE Dining in Surfers Paradise

Start your New Year’s Eve with a meal in Surfers Paradise. Choose between casual dining, bold flavours, or seafood by the water.

Hurricane’s Grill is a family favourite. It’s known for steaks, ribs, and a relaxed setting. It suits early dinners before heading to the beach.

La Diosa Mexicana brings colour and energy with tacos, margaritas, and plenty of atmosphere.

Seascape Restaurant provides a more elevated experience. Its balcony overlooks the Esplanade, with views of the early fireworks.

Each venue is an easy walk from St Tropez. Families often choose to dine early, which makes it easier to get a good spot for the 8 pm fireworks.

Bookings fill quickly, so it’s best to reserve ahead. For something to do during the day, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! is a nearby option. It’s air-conditioned and ideal for families passing the time before the evening begins.

Family-Friendly Ideas for a Gold Coast NYE

Travelling with kids? Surfers Paradise is a fantastic place to celebrate New Year’s Eve as a family. Start the day with a swim or visit a local attraction like Ripley’s Odditorium or Timezone. Both are walkable and full of fun.

For dinner, pick a family-friendly spot early in the evening, then head to the beach for the 8 pm fireworks. Bring some glow sticks, a few snacks, and a towel or blanket for the kids to sit on.

The Surfers Paradise foreshore has plenty of space to spread out, and the early show means you can be back in your apartment before the crowds build up.

Looking for more relaxed things to do on the Gold Coast, family-style? Consider the beachfront playground or simply enjoy an evening walk along the Esplanade while taking in the lights and music.

What to Pack and How to Get Around

New Year’s Eve on the Gold Coast is warm, breezy, and humid, so light, breathable clothing is a must. Here’s a quick packing list for the night:

  • Light layers for cooler breezes later
  • Water bottle
  • Picnic rug or fold-up chairs
  • Snacks and sunscreen
  • Glow sticks or beach toys for the kids
  • Flat shoes or sandals

Staying at St Tropez means you won’t need to worry about driving or booking an Uber. All major events, restaurants, and attractions are within walking distance. You can relax and enjoy the night without the stress of parking or long queues.

If you’re on a family holiday, this central location makes things much easier, especially when you have tired little ones by the end of the night.

Local Tips for a Hassle-Free NYE

Before you head out, here are some helpful local tips:

  • Arrive at the beach early to grab a good spot
  • Pack snacks, especially if you’re with kids
  • Use public restrooms near Cavill Mall
  • Avoid bringing glass bottles or alcohol; it’s a no-go on the beach
  • Book restaurant tables now, especially if you want views
  • Stay with your group, it gets crowded after 10 pm

New Year’s Eve in Surfers Paradise is fun, safe, and welcoming for all ages. With everything right outside your door, your stay at St Tropez puts you in the heart of the celebration.

Start the New Year by the Beach

Start 2025 just metres from the beach. Fireworks fade into memory, the ocean breeze moves through the windows, and a new day begins by the water.

Surfers Paradise brings energy, warmth, and celebration. Families, couples, and groups can all find something to enjoy. With St Tropez at the heart of it, everything is close. No traffic. No stress. Just summer on your doorstep.

Plan your New Year’s Eve getaway early. Book your stay at St Tropez Holiday Apartments and join the Gold Coast’s biggest night. Apartments fill quickly, so secure yours while availability lasts.

When Christmas arrives, the Gold Coast swaps snow for sunshine and surf. Palms glow with fairy lights, the air carries the scent of salt and barbecue, and carols drift through the warm evening breeze.

It is a season where beach life and holiday spirit come together in perfect harmony, and nowhere captures it like Surfers Paradise. Beachfront markets, concerts under the stars, and cheerful crowds fill every corner.

Stay at St Tropez Resort to be right in the centre of the celebration, only steps from the beach, great dining, and the city’s favourite Christmas events.

Beachside Carols and Sparkling Nights

Christmas in Gold Coast, Australia, is best experienced through its live music and open-air celebrations. The energy is contagious, the community feel is strong, and every event brings people together under the summer sky.

Mayor’s Christmas Carols at HOTA (December 6, 2025)

Held at the Home of the Arts, the Mayor’s Christmas Carols is one of the biggest festive gatherings in the region. Families spread picnic blankets across the grass, the choir begins, and fireworks light up the night to close the show.

The event is hosted by Village Roadshow Theme Parks and attracts thousands of locals and visitors. From St Tropez Resort, it is a short drive to HOTA, making it easy to enjoy the celebration without worrying about parking or long commutes.

Markets and Festive Finds by the Sea

December nights in Surfers Paradise come alive with lights, music, and the smell of fresh food. This is the time when you can find handmade gifts, street performers, and the kind of coastal charm that defines a true Gold Coast Christmas.

Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets

The Beachfront Markets are a must-visit during the holiday season. Stalls line the foreshore with local art, jewellery, beachwear, and delicious snacks.

A short drive south, the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre hosts “Deck the Halls 2025,” a vibrant mix of live entertainment, dinner, and dancing. Guests staying at St Tropez Resort can easily make it there and back for an evening to remember.

Beach Day Traditions and Sunset Picnics

Imagine Santa in board shorts walking the shoreline while families relax under umbrellas and children build sandcastles. It is a laid-back celebration that feels perfectly Australian.

Guests at St Tropez Apartments can walk straight from their rooms to the beach, towel in hand, ready to start the day. The nearby cafes open early, serving coffee and brunch before the afternoon heat sets in.

Movie Under the Stars – Elliot the Littlest Reindeer

December 6
Saturday 7:00 pm

After a long day in the sun, evenings at HOTA bring another treat, the family movie Elliot the Littlest Reindeer, shown outdoors. It is one of the best night attractions the Gold Coast offers during December.

The movie begins at sunset, surrounded by food stalls and a relaxed picnic atmosphere, making it perfect for families with kids.

Feast and Celebrate: Christmas Dinner on the Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is famous for its food scene, and Christmas Day brings out its best flavours. Whether you want a casual meal or a five-star buffet, there is something nearby to suit every taste.

Christmas Day Buffets at Bazaar, QT Gold Coast

Bazaar at QT Gold Coast is one of the most popular dining spots for Christmas dinner on the Gold Coast. The buffet spreads feature fresh seafood, roasts, and an entire table of desserts.

The vibe is lively, the service is excellent, and it is only a short walk or quick ride from St Tropez Resort. Book early, as seats fill up weeks in advance.

Other Christmas Dining and Party Ideas

For those who prefer a quieter night, restaurants along Cavill Avenue and the Esplanade also offer festive menus. You can plan small get-togethers or family meals, keeping the celebration simple and relaxed.

There are plenty of Christmas party ideas Gold Coast visitors can enjoy, from private beach picnics to rooftop dinners. You can find more inspiration for things to do in Surfers Paradise.

Plenty of travellers check the forecast when planning a holiday, but the smart ones check the event calendar. May hits the sweet spot on the Gold Coast, and if you’re asking what’s on the Gold Coast this month, we’ve lined up the good stuff.

Expect sky-shaking fireworks, beachside music that goes well past sunset, and a boat show that’s all about big dreams and bigger engines.

Many events are free, all are worth your time, and most are just a stroll or tram ride from the sand. Don’t wait until your mate tells you what you missed.

What’s On Gold Coast This May

May is shaping up to be one of the Gold Coast’s busiest and brightest months, with live music, waterfront glamour, and sky-high thrills in full swing.

The season stays warm, and so does the action. Anyone keeping an eye on what’s on the Gold Coast this May will notice a calendar packed with standout events. Here are just a few of the highlights making waves:

  • Open-air blues festivals fill Broadbeach with rhythm
  • Million-dollar yachts lining the marina at the boat show
  • Fireworks and pyrotechnics over the Surfers Paradise shoreline
  • Avant-garde art installations appearing in public spaces

These events on the Gold Coast aren’t add-ons. They define the experience. Below, we’ve mapped out the major Gold Coast event dates to help you time your trip right.

Blues on Broadbeach

Broadbeach is set to hum with soul and rhythm as the coast’s best-loved music weekend returns this May.

The Gold Coast’s Signature Blues Festival

Running from 15 to 18 May 2025, Blues on Broadbeach takes over the streets with four days of live music, all completely free. This Blues Festival Gold Coast favourite brings together headline acts and emerging talent across multiple open-air stages, drawing crowds with its easygoing vibe and quality line-up.

Getting There Without the Fuss

Skip the car and jump on the G: link tram at Cavill Avenue. It’s a short ride to Broadbeach South, just a few minutes away, and drops you close to the main stage areas.

When to Go and What to Eat

Evenings are the standout. As the sun dips, the crowd swells and the atmosphere lifts. Food trucks, bars, and cafés around Broadbeach keep it social and simple.

This Gold Coast Blues Festival is a true festival staple, packed with live music and coastal charm.

Boat Show at Sanctuary Cove

Polished hulls, designer interiors and waterside prestige return this May with one of the most anticipated marine events in Queensland.

Australia’s Leading Marine Showcase

The Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show runs from 22 to 25 May 2025, setting the stage for high-end vessels, marine technology and luxury lifestyle exhibits. As a signature Gold Coast event, it draws boating enthusiasts, industry leaders and curious onlookers into a relaxed, open-air setting.

Getting There and Parking Tips

Expect around 35 35-minute drive north from Surfers Paradise. Parking fills early, so plan to arrive in the morning or use the park-and-ride shuttle. Tickets typically range between $25 and $35. Check the official site closer to the date for final pricing and early access options.

Lunch With a View

Take a break at The Marine Village, where waterfront cafés and courtyard restaurants create the ideal setting for a casual meal with a view.

Of all the events in Gold Coast this May, few match this one for polish, pace and atmosphere.

SeaFire Fireworks

Surfers Paradise lights up once again with one of the most visually striking nights on the local calendar.

A Festival of Light and Sound

SeaFire Surfers Paradise returns on 31 May 2025, transforming the beachfront into a high-energy fireworks competition. Pyrotechnic teams from around the world go head-to-head, choreographing sky-high displays to music in a setting that buzzes with excitement. It’s one of the top events on the Gold Coast each year, and it draws big crowds for good reason.

Easy to Access, Free to Enjoy

The event is free to attend and easily walkable from the St Tropez Resort. For the best view, aim to arrive early and set up near the Esplanade or on the sand.

Food, Fireworks and Atmosphere

A night market pops up nearby with casual bites, sweets and drinks. It’s the kind of event that suits couples, families and anyone chasing a good reason to stay out late.

As far as any festival on the Gold Coast goes, SeaFire stands out for all the right reasons.

BLEACH Festival*

Creative energy will hit the streets this May as early BLEACH* installations bring bold ideas into everyday Gold Coast corners.

Art That Moves With the City

The BLEACH Festival Gold Coast is known for its fresh approach, turning everyday locations into pop-up stages and immersive spaces. This year’s early program keeps things close to Surfers Paradise, with performances and art moments that feel spontaneous yet considered.

Highlights Near Surfers

One event will take place at dusk along the Esplanade, where live music and movement art meet the fading light. Another installation nearby will transform a local park into an ambient sound experience, inviting passersby to pause and tune in.

Originality With No Detour

This festival Gold Coast favourite is built for curious travellers who want a cultural hit without leaving their postcode. BLEACH* proves that memorable doesn’t always mean far-flung.

Why May Is the Month to Visit

If you’re chasing warm days, cool nights and a calendar stacked with music and spectacle, May is your moment.

It’s peak season for what’s on the Gold Coast, but the crowds are here for the events, not just the beaches. The weather lines up beautifully:

  • Daytime highs sit near 23°C—ideal for outdoor sessions and seaside walks.
  • Evening lows around 15°C—perfect for alfresco dining and night-time shows.
  • Packing tip: Bring a light jacket for post-sunset comfort.

The calendar lines up back-to-back highlights:

  • SeaFire turns the shoreline into a fireworks arena.
  • Blues on Broadbeach brings four days of rhythm to the streets.
  • Sanctuary Cove turns heads with superyachts and marine showpieces.

Now’s the time to anchor your plans around the main acts and secure a front-row base before the rest catch on.

Where Events Meet Ease

When your accommodation matches your event line-up, everything falls into place.

St Tropez Apartment sits within walking distance of SeaFire, with the G:link tram nearby for quick rides to Blues on Broadbeach and the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. No parking stress. No long transfers.

Each apartment is fully self-contained and comfortably set within tropical surrounds—ideal for travellers planning a May packed with headline events.

Gold Coast Water Lantern Festival

Scheduled for 10 May 2025, the Water Lantern Festival takes over HOTA Parklands for one of the most peaceful nights on the local calendar. Lanterns drift across the water as music, food trucks and a soft glow surround you.

  • Great for families, couples or solo visitors
  • Bring a picnic mat and layer up. It cools quickly after dark
  • Tickets often include your lantern and marker for custom messages

Few events create the same slow-paced calm as this one. Among Surfers Paradise events, it’s a standout for quiet beauty and thoughtful moments.

SeaFire Surfers Paradise

Set for 31 May 2025, SeaFire returns to the beachfront with sky-high bursts of colour and sound. It’s free, family-friendly and walkable.

  • Best viewed with a picnic blanket and early arrival
  • One of the biggest fireworks nights on the Gold Coast
  • Surfers Paradise Beach puts you right under the action

For entertainment on the Gold Coast, Seafire Surfers Paradise continues to impress with its scale and seaside setting.

Winter Family Fun

July brings a burst of colour and sound during the school holidays, with one standout event designed entirely for young families. If you’re scanning what’s on Surfers Paradise for winter, this one brings the fun without the fuss.

Kidchella

Held 19 to 20 July at Broadwater Parklands, Kidchella turns the area into a music-filled playground with dance zones, roving performers and hands-on craft workshops. The event draws families across the region and suits all ages, especially younger kids ready to move and play.

  • Entry is free or low-cost, depending on the activities
  • Bring sunscreen, water bottles and picnic snacks
  • Arrive early to avoid queues at popular stations

August Airshow Buzz

The skies above Surfers Paradise were set to roar once again in 2025, but the much-anticipated Pacific Airshow Gold Coast 2025 has been cancelled. That hasn’t stopped aviation fans and hopeful travellers from marking the dates just in case.

Pacific Airshow Gold Coast 2025

Originally scheduled for 15 to 17 August, the airshow drew thousands to the beachfront in 2023 with military jets, aerobatics and precision stunts. The cancellation in 2025 has left a noticeable gap in the late-winter event calendar, but it’s still a talking point among locals and returning guests.

  • One of the largest beach-based airshows in the Southern Hemisphere
  • Hosted in Surfers Paradise with prime views from the sand
  • Known for its sound, spectacle and non-stop crowd energy

October Race Weekend

Spring shifts into high gear as the Gold Coast’s biggest motorsport event takes over the streets. It’s loud, fast and filled with fans who plan their trip around the action.

Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500

Set for 24 to 26 October, this race weekend transforms Southport’s circuit into a crowd-drawing spectacle. V8 supercars dominate the streets while entertainment and pit-lane activities keep the energy going all day.

  • Best suited to motorsport fans, groups and energetic weekends
  • Located around a 25 to 30-minute drive from Surfers
  • Book early.

Your Gold Coast Line-Up Just Got Better

Surfers Paradise in 2025 brings the kind of events that make planning feel effortless. Fireworks, films, music nights and family weekends shape your trip while still giving you time to relax.

These Surfers Paradise events help define the mood of your stay. If you’re choosing dates around the best Gold Coast things to do, this line-up makes the decision easier. Add your top picks to the calendar and build in time for the spontaneous moments, too.

Stay Near Every Moment

When events guide your itinerary, staying close counts. St Tropez places you right where it all happens, near the beach, Cavill Lane and tram connections across the city.

You can walk to the fireworks, take the light rail to HOTA or grab dinner nearby after a show. Everything is close enough to enjoy without the hassle of parking or planning around transport. Settle in where the Gold Coast comes to life.

Book your stay at St Tropez and make every moment effortless.

The BLEACH* Festival, the Gold Coast’s most significant cultural arts festival, is just around the corner. Prepare for an incredible 11-day celebration from August 3 to August 13.

The Gold Coast’s annual contemporary art event is BLEACH*. It began as a tiny side event to the World Championship Tour Quiksilver Pro surfing tournament on the Southern Gold Coast. Bleach* Surfing the Fringe started in 2012 as a prototype project with a $40,000 budget and drew 30,000 visitors over 16 days.

The BLEACH* Festival, now in its 12th year, continues its celebration of art. Their 2023 program includes over 300 artists and 218 performances across 38 events, making it the Gold Coast’s signature arts and culture festival.

So please take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a part of history as the festival celebrates its 12th year from the shoreline of North Burleigh to the valley of Currumbin and the tidal flow of the Nerang River.

Here’s what to expect at the 12th BLEACH* Festival.

Love Your Local North Burleigh Hub

August 4 to 6 and 11 to 13

There are many activities at the North Burleigh Hub, whether engaging in dance performances with the sand between your toes or listening to some of the Gold Coast’s most excellent musicians.

The hub’s music lineup includes nominees from the Gold Coast Music Awards. They’re also throwing the finest dance party you’ve ever seen. Leave everything on the dance floor for 10 minutes as a beautiful collision of art, colour, costume, and community unite!

Broadbeach Cultural Precinct

August 10 – 12

From August 10 to 12, head to the Broadbeach Hub to see extraordinary talent exhibitions, including burlesque, theatre, stand-up comedy, drag, spoken word, and much more.

Enjoy the River Songs series, which features musical duo Yirinda, who blend ancient Aboriginal language with kaleidoscopic harmonies, the adventurous musical pairing known as Shugorei and ‘the sorceress of percussion,’ Claire Edwardes, the only Australian artist to win the APRA Art Music Luminary Award four times.

Meet Poncho, a Latino-loving, eccentric figure that liquefies the English language and takes you on an insane, amusing voyage of narrative and physical humour. Alternatively, explore the tantalising world of YUMMY ICONIC, a great mash-up of beautiful burlesque, amazing circus, and outrageous drag acts.

Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens

August 11 – 13

The Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens is a 31-hectare haven of beauty and tranquillity located just off a busy stretch of Ashmore Road in Benowa. There’s much to see and do inside for people of all ages, including rose, bush food, butterfly gardens, and a sensory garden with plants designed to excite the five senses.

Prepare for a musical thrill in this paradise during the BLEACH* Festival. Enjoy the performances, which are amongst the greenery and honour Australia’s best singers, musicians, and songwriters.

On the first day, see Tamara-Anna Cislowska, a renowned concert pianist, and Tarita Botsman, a visionary artist. The Australian premiere features some of the country’s most adventurous and inventive female composers and songwriters.

The Riverside Guitar Ensemble and Queensland Conservatorium Jazz Orchestra, The Con Artists, perform on the outdoor stage on day two. On the last day, spread out a picnic blanket and let ARIA-award-winning songbird Katie Noonan serenade you into the sunset with songs from Joni Mitchell’s seminal album, Blue.
