Now in its 16th annual event, film fanatics and movie buffs can enjoy a superb number of film-related events up and down the Gold Coast, from movie location tours to exciting outdoor movie showings and more. The Gold Coast’s flagship festival for filmmaking in the region, the Gold Coast Film Festival will celebrate the Gold Coast’s history of filmmaking over 11 exciting days. The Gold Coast itself has been a sought-after location for several huge international blockbuster movies, including Unbroken, Pirates of the Caribbean, Thor: Ragnarok, Aquaman, and plenty more. You can see these famous locations with the Gold Coast Movie Locations Tour: a bus tour to four well-known Gold Coast locations where over 20 films have been filmed such as Thor: Ragnarok, Kong: Skull Island, San Andreas, Pirates of the Caribbean, and more. Enjoy this tour on weekends April 21-22 and April 28-29.
Celebrate dance in film with two exciting outdoor movie showings in Giltrap Park, Kirra as part of the 16th annual Gold Coast Film Festival. Watch Strictly Ballroom on April 20 and Happy Feet under the stars on April 21 with lots of food and refreshments onsite – all you have to do is bring a blanket or chair! On April 22 enjoy more outdoor showings on the famous Surfers Paradise Beach, where ‘Sipfest’ will be showing the best film shorts in the country!
On April 20 be part of a tempting 3-hour buffet and drink package at the QT Gold Coast in Surfers Paradise to celebrate women in film. The Women in Film Lunch is a fun afternoon of food, talks, and entertainment. You can also test your film knowledge at the Music and Movie Trivia taking place at the QT Ballroom in Surfers Paradise, where teams of up to six can combine their movie knowledge and win fantastic prizes.
